Team Buckley Physio Bike Fit

Introduction

  • Bike Fit with Simon

Cycling comes in numerous different disciplines from commuting to racing. There is an ever-growing variety of bikes and riding styles to suit different people’s passion for cycling. However, it’s difficult to get passionate about cycling if you are uncomfortable on your bike. This may lead to poor performance, an unhappy riding experience and, worst case scenario, injury.

We believe a personalised professional bike fit is important to help enable you to get the most from your riding whether it is racing, mountain biking, commuting or any other form of cycling.

Why Choose Team Buckley for your Bike Fit

We believe in an evidenced based and individualised approach to all our services. By choosing Team Buckley you will benefit from the support of a multi-professional team who have a wealth of experience across a range of disciplines including on-going work with elite athletes.

Bike Fit Services

Our fitting sessions involve a number of stages as outlined below:

Basic bike fit

  1. Pre-fit questionnaire: before your session we will email you a questionnaire to complete so that we can be prepared and have an idea of your expectations.
  2. Interview: we will ask you to complete a consent form that includes questions about your relevant medical history, such as previous injuries, so that we can take this into account when performing your bike fit.
  3. On the bike assessment: enables us to analyse what adjustments may be required to improve your cycling dynamics and comfort. This will focus on your saddle height and set-back before assessing your handle-bar reach and height.
  4. Amendments: We will agree any advised adjustments to your bike set-up before making any changes.
  5. Feed-back: At the end of the session we will provide appropriate advice on how you might improve your riding both on and off the bike. We will also send you a set of measurements from the session so that you can use them for future reference.

Advanced Bike Fit

  3. Physical assessment: we will take several measurements and will assess your flexibility and physical conditioning. This will enable us to understand your individual biomechanics and how it may be influencing your riding comfort and performance.
  4. Riding Analysis: we will measure your existing bike set-up before assessing you on your bike using the BikeFit Pro, and evidence based, methodology to identify what adjustments maybe required. This will enable us to suggest any appropriate amendments to improve your cycling position. This will include an assessment of your pedal-cleat set-up as well as parameters such as saddle height, set-back and your reach.
  5. Bike set-up: before making any changes to your bike we will discuss our findings with you and will agree any appropriate adjustments to help improve your performance and comfort. This may include the use of appropriate shoe-cleat wedges to improve your pedalling dynamics; these will be included in the cost of the bike fit.
  6. At the end of the session we will provide appropriate advice on how you might improve your riding both on and off the bike. We will also send you a full set of measurements from the session so that you can use them for future reference.

NB: Following your bike fit assessment we may suggest alternatively sized components to enable the desired change in position. In this case, we can supply some components or will be able to refer you to a local retailer if you would like. This would also include access to appropriate workshop support.
